“Food is Love:” ABA Names Tracy Madigan as New Farmers Market Manager
We are excited to announce Tracy Madigan as the new Farmers Market manager. For the past eight years, she has worked within the natural food industry in marketing, community outreach, and sales roles and has a passion for both food and community.
“My love for food and community is not merely for the feelings of satiety nor the infinite flavor palette which nature affords,” Tracy said. “It’s a passion teetering on zealotry for the creators of our food, the farmers and the home cooks, and those who have yet to understand that ‘food is medicine,’ and gladly I serve as their devotee and teacher.”
Tracy has also served in the development departments of two non-profit organizations, giving her access to learn from farmers and movers and shakers in the local food community.
“I’ve had the good fortune to have sought out and met pillars in the local food community in order to learn and share their stories, volunteered on organic farms and in markets, sponsored and exhibited in organic food conferences (including Georgia Organics Conference), ridden on tractors, written and submitted grants, planned countless successful events, planted and plucked vegetables from the earth, and served as a conduit helping others to obtain needed resources,” she shared.
Darren Carter, 2020 President of the Alpharetta Business Association, noted his excitement at having Tracy come onboard to lead the Farmers Market in its 14th season.
“Tracy’s unique combination of marketing and event experience and interest in natural food makes her the ideal leader for our award-winning Farmers Market. We look forward to working together to continue the tradition started by founders Larry and Margo Attig and Carol Anderson-Wood.”
The 2020 Farmers Market season will begin at a date to be determined and features more than 100 vendors. Once open, it will run every Saturday until October 31 with the exception of May 23 on Memorial Day weekend. The Market is located at North and South Broad Streets in Downtown Alpharetta in front of City Center alongside the Town Green and will run from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
